True God- Eyes On The Ring Album Review

Eyes On The Ring Album Review By Nathan Neumann @Headliner5 on Twitter
For those of you who don’t know my taste in music, it’s probably very different than you would expect. I’m 29 years old and I listen to music that is generally older than I am. Some of my favorite bands are The Rolling Stones, Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band, Led Zeppelin just to name a few. So as you can probably tell by the short list provided, I am a big classic rock guy and I have been since I was about eight years old.  Yeah I listened to Nirvana, but that’s probably the only band from my generation that did anything for me music wise, well them and Pearl Jam.

That said, my taste in music is usually set on one thing or another. I really don’t branch out that much I did however buy Eyes On The Ring which is the latest album released by True God. I’ll be honest I had my doubts at first because hip hop/rap, or what have you isn’t really my thing but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this album when I dropped the cash for it.

I won’t do a track by track break down of what is on this album but I will say this if you are a fan of hip hop music mixed with wrestling then this is the album for you. There was a time way back in 1999 that then WWF released it’s own rap album titled WWF Aggression and I picked it up and I enjoyed it and I was actually hoping that they would release a volume two but it never came to be. The closest thing to it is the album I am reviewing which is @TrueGodImmortal’s Eyes On The Ring. I would actually go as far as to say that this album is better than the aforementioned one being that with Eyes On The Ring, I can listen to it straight through without a problem.

There are tracks on the album that I like better than others but there isn’t a single track on this cut that I do not like. It’s hard to say what’s my favorite though, it would be a toss up of the second track on the album which is about Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) and the Indy Circuit in professional wrestling, and the final track on the album which is a Hulk Hogan/NWO track called Idolized to Demonized.

Idolized to Demonized is a very well rounded track, it starts out with a sampling of Hulk Hogan’s “Real American” theme song and by the track is over he has turned heel and it ends up with a New World Order sample which is very cool.

Another song that I really enjoy on this Album is the Four Horsemen track, It’s got a great beat that samples the original Four Horseman theme and the lyrics fit very well. Something that I love throughout the album is the sound bites of wrestlers voices, as it adds so much to it and really completes the picture.

There is one more track on the album that I will name and that is the Brood track. I've always really liked the Brood theme and hearing it being rapped over was very well done. This is another track where the lyrics to the song fit very well. This track in particular has great pacing and the beat and the lyrics flow very well together.

That’s really all I can say about this album. I could probably write a few more pages about the uniqueness of it but if I reviewed all of the tracks on it I wouldn’t be doing my job. If I told you everything you were going to hear when you purchase this album then I would have spoiled it for you.

I hope this gives you a taste of Eyes On The Ring, and that after reading this you will be willing to drop the money to purchase the album. I did and I’m glad that I did, despite saying earlier that this is not my genre of music. Sometimes we all need to branch out of our comfort zone and try something new and you may like what you hear. I know I definitely did, in fact I haven’t stopped listening to the album since I purchased it on Tuesday of this week.

So I will leave you with this, buy this album, it gets my highest recommendation and like I said a few times in this article, this recommendation is coming from someone who doesn’t necessarily like this genre of music. However if you are willing to branch out and try something new I am sure you will enjoy it as much if not more than I do.
