URL Summer Madness 5 Predictions

By @TrueGodImmortal and @MDizzle9000

As URL's marquee event approaches just in time for autumn, the Summer Madness card was revealed recently and has received some very mixed reviews. Most of us paying close attention to the culture knew the match between the Harlem juggernauts Charlie Clips and Loaded Lux was inevitable. However, it seems that those two may have eaten up most of the budget along with Smack's beard grooming and keeping Norbes fed. Notable names are missing from the card, including veterans and fan favorites like Hitman Holla and Tsu Surf. The rising star Chilla Jones didn't get a spot, and Math Hoffa is missing as well, after URL seemingly teased at bringing him back onto the big stage. Today True and Dizzle sit down and discuss each battle. Let's take a look at the battles that made it on the card.

T-Rex vs T-Top

@MDizzle9000
Many are questioning T Rex's inclusion on the card after losing so badly to Clips and generally being on the decline. The lyrical but somewhat one dimensional T top is making his Summer Madness debut. I think this might actually be a decent battle, as I expect this to be a lot of gangsta stories vs drug stories. Rex has something to prove if he wants to reclaim his former status, but I predict the Rookie T top coming out with a slight 2-1 victory.

@TrueGodImmortal
I really don't understand the purpose of this battle because T Top deserves a better veteran. Rex has always been overrated to me anyways, but after losing to Clips, Danny Myers, and just seeming inconsistent, I'm going with a 3-0 for T Top. Top will kill Rex.

Ms. Hustle vs O'fficial

@MDizzle9000
Personally I'd rather see Gattas back on the big stage over Hustle, as I think she outbarred the thick thighed Hustle in their battle last year. O'fficial deserves this spot after her decimation of the female fan favorite, Jaz the rapper. Expect this to be a top 3 battle of the night, with O'fficial punching her way into a clear win.

@TrueGodImmortal
I like Ms. Hustle, but I don't think she is going to come prepared for this. Though I believe Official vs Jaz is a debatable battle(bar wise Jaz was right there with her), Official came correct then and made me even more of a believer. Official 2-1.

John John Da Don vs Mr .Wavy

@MDizzle9000
The battle that nobody asked for. John John is the prototype for the PG battle rapper, unoriginal as he blends the styles and schemes of the veterans he poorly tries to emulate. If you thought JJDD didn't deserve another SM appearance, he still might be better than his opponent Mr. Wavy. Wavy's bars are terrible. I may completely skip the battle of the biters, as I'd rather not see Wavy do his awful Tsu Surf impression or see JJDD do his everyone else impression. Prediction? The fans getting 3-0'd.

@TrueGodImmortal
Smack was really reaching for this one. Wavy is eh, and he lost clearly to Shine at Rookies and Vets to me. John John beat Prep barely, but has not been consistent enough to warrant a Summer Madness 5 spot. However, I think JJDD edges out a 2-1 victory after Wavy chokes in the 2nd or 3rd round.

K-Shine and DNA vs Chess and Steams

@MDizzle9000
The rematch of the battle that ended prematurely in a brawl. URL could have saved this one for a smaller event. I'm not completely sold on the doubles battle thing, but I do enjoy the show that NWX(DNA and Shine) put on. The unorthodox Steams and the prepubescent Chess couldn't keep up with their veteran opponents in the first battle up until the fight broke out, I expect the same to happen this time. I'll give this one to DNA and K Shine in a decisive 3-0 victory.

@TrueGodImmortal
I honestly wanted to see these battlers on a different match. I think DNA and Shine are great at 2 on 2s, but I wanted to see Shine in a 1 on 1 as he has been on fire this year. In the first battle, Shine and DNA were killing Steams and Chess, and I expect the same to occur here. Decisive 3-0 victory unless Shine stumbles or chokes.

Big T vs Shotgun Suge

@MDizzle9000
Why is this battle happening? Nobody expected or anticipated this one, and after the announcement, I don't think anyone is excited. Big T vs Daylyt was the battle I expected, as that was hinted since before the Rookies vs Vets event. The logical opponent for Suge would have been Hitman Holla, as they've been sending shots back and forth for years. The only explanation for the pairing of these two is that they're both morbidly obese. Suge has had some decent performances recently, but his inconsistent writing and cringe worthy filler won't be enough for the human gun soundboard. Big T 2-1 in a forgettable one.

@TrueGodImmortal
Smack lost me with this one. I don't like T or Suge. This is a battle I could care less about. Even lesser than JJDD vs Wavy. Big T vs Daylyt was the battle that was supposed to happen. It didn't. They wanted Suge vs Hitman, but Smack couldn't make it happen. Disappointing, but I'll say Suge wins 2-1 in a lackluster battle.

Tay Roc vs Calicoe

@MDizzle9000
This battle actually has some history and anticipation behind it. The crowd pleasing Tay Roc called out Cal in his top notch performance against Brizz Rawsteen, as he looks to prove his title as gun bar king. I still don't feel comfortable with Calicoe continuing to get Summer Madness appearances after he was sacrificed to Lux at SM2. While he never truly redeemed himself on the URL stage, his battles against Hitman and Surf proved he can still compete and win. I think Calicoe will come with some heat, but Tay Roc has been consistently good, albeit overrated by some. Roc 2-1 in what should be one of the better battles of the night.

@TrueGodImmortal
I knew regardless of whatever else, Smack would get Tay Roc on the card. Honestly, Roc has lost both his battles this year(clear 3-0 loss to Surf at NOME 5 and a 2-1 to Brizz) to me, but this one is one he can't lose. Calicoe is inconsistent, but on the URL stage, he will bring heat. It won't be enough, as Roc's gassed and overrated gun bars will take the crowd and energy in the room. 2-1 Roc.

Loaded Lux vs Charlie Clips

@MDizzle9000
The big one that's supposed to make up for the fact that just about every other battle rap superstar is missing from the line up. Lux and Clips are two of the greatest to ever step in the ring, so expect both to be at the top of their game. Clips needs a W as most would say Hollow got the best of him in their NOME battle. Lux isn't going to make this easy, as he seemingly has something to prove in his return to URL against the fellow Harlemite. Lux has the best pen in the game and for Clips to overcome that he needs to be highly aggressive for the whole battle. Clips has a more versatile style and I expect some good angles and personals in this main event. Good rebuttals can also swing it in his favor. With that, I still have to put my money on Loaded Lux giving it his all and edging the win. Lux had a debatable vs Hollow and a loss in his rematch with  Murda Mook, he needs to win this one to validate himself as the best in the game. Lux 2-1 in a classic.

@TrueGodImmortal
This is my ultimate battle. I said years ago that the dream battle for me would be Lux vs Clips. Its finally happening. I have the belief that Clips barely edged Hollow 2-1 in their battle and that he's mostly undefeated this year(edged wins in all his battle), but he hasn't seemed as hungry. After a clear loss to Mook, Lux is refocused and bound to come on point. I can't see anything short of a classic here and I'll go with Lux 2-1, but it will likely be debatable if both show up on their A game. Two different styles, two of the best ever, and my two all time favorites personally. Let's make a classic!!

We are both disappointed in the overall card, as most of these battles range from not Summer Madness worthy to shouldn't happen at all. With leagues like KOTD, Don't Flop and Gorilla Warfare on the come up, URL cant afford to throw together weak cards like this for their biggest event of the year. Hopefully Smack puts together something else before the end of the year where we get to see some of the emcees that weren't included in this one. We are both looking forward to Clips and Lux colliding, but Dizzle says he might be asleep for the rest of this weak installment of what's supposed to be battle rap's Wrestlemania. Hopefully, the battles turn out better than what they seem now. We shall see.
