DAR Sports: NFL Week 13 Preview
As the season continues to wind down, the playoff picture is heating and there is only one undefeated team left in the league. Will that change? Will the Panthers finally lose? Are the Patriots going to kill the Eagles? So many questions. We have the answers. Let's get into it.
@SpeedontheBeat
So, as the holiday season falls upon us, the NFL season begins its rev-up towards the Super Bowl. This year, it looks all but certain that my Ravens will get a visit from Krampus instead of a trip to the playoffs. But, why though? Uh...I have no idea. But, other teams in the league are going strong. And while I've gotten drunk for a couple of days off the tears of Patriots fans everywhere, Week 13 is almost upon us. So, let me sober up really quick by watching some kittens play with yarn set to Christmas music.
Ok, now that I'm back, let's get into these predictions.
The Packers lost a close one on Thanksgiving Night and the Lions decimated the Eagles earlier that day. Who wins out, though? Ehhh...I've got to go with the Packers, but it may be closer than people think. The Lions aren't exactly a horrible team--just like the Ravens--even though they've played quite horribly.
The Giants lost to the Washington Footba--you know what, as racist as "Redskins" may very will be, I don't think calling them the "Washington Football Team" will make Dan Snyder change the name. Gotta hit 'em in the wallets and such, but in a way that isn't just hashtags and retweets. I digress. The Giants are playing a Jets team that walked away with a decisive win over the Dolphins in Week 12. So, I've got the Jets winning this one.
The Cardinals will win against St. Louis. That's pretty much a given. The Rams showed these past couple weeks that they're not that great defensively and Carson Palmer is experiencing a career resurgence unseen since Brett Favre's last season or two.
Unless Devonta Freeman doesn't suit up, I'm going with the Falcons over the Bucs. Jameis Winston has been showing us why he was the number-one pick this past draft. However, I don't see Atlanta completely imploding on themselves this time around.
With regards to the 'Hawks/Vikes game, I'm going with Minnesota over the Seahawks. While Seattle's looked more like the championship contender they were last year, I still think Minnesota will continue to surprise fans.
I've got Chicago beating San Fran. Kaepernick has played the Niners into a hole not many teams can crawl out of. Now, that's not a shot at Kaep, per se. No one could've seen this coming. However, he hasn't been himself this year. And Blaine Gabbert isn't the fix-all for the Niners.
Jacksonville will beat the Titans. I hate saying that because one of my close friends is a Titans fan. But, I'm not exactly sold on this team being great yet--at least not for another year or two. I mean, they've played to a 2-9 record so far this year even with Mariota playing halfway well. They're still missing some pieces.
Buffalo will take out Houston. That's kind of all I've got to say on that one.
Expect Baltimore to beat Miami. The Ravens have been showing that "never-say-die" attitude they've been known for under John Harbaugh these past couple weeks. However, I see this one being a close one--as every Ravens game's been this season, it seems--and not decided until the final minutes. Matt Schaub impressed me last night, but not enough--especially after that pick-six he threw. C'mon son!
The Bengals will beat Cleveland. That's kind of a sure-fire bet at this point.
In a toss-up game, I've got Oakland beating the Chiefs. Kelce dances won't save KC this time around.
The Broncos will win against San Diego. I just don't see this one going any other way. The Broncos have shown that they can play without a dominating QB and San Diego has started to gel too little, too late.
Now, I hope that people don't look at me crazy on this one. But, for some reason, I see Philly taking the W against New England. The Pats are without most of their sure-fire starters this week. And, yes, Tom Brady seems to embiggen whoever he plays with (no "Deflategate" jokes this time around). But...Chip Kelly, at this point, is coaching for his livelihood. I don't see Charles Edward Kelly rolling over to play dead this week. It'll be a close one, closer than people think--just like the Packers game--but I see Philly eking out a win.
The Panthers will go to 12-0 against the Saints. They aren't quite the "Aints" again, but New Orleans has underwhelmed this year. The Panthers, however, have kicked much butt. And I expect them to continue that trend. But, just as the Patriots game, I'm not 100% sold on Cam dabbing his way into our hearts all willy-nilly this week. I feel this game may be close until later in the second half. But, what the eff do I know? I've just got an 11-1 team in Fantasy (sorry guys, I had to get my boast out there).
In our Sunday Night Football matchup, I'm going to go with the Colts over the Steelers. It's a toss-up, to be honest, and probably the game that I'm the least-sure about.
Finally, on Monday night, I can't see anyone but Kurt Cousins coming out with the W. The Redskins will beat the Cowboys. Washington has gone from trash to...not as trash-like behind the arm of Kurt. He's playing himself into a big-money contract this coming off-season. Will it be worth it? Eh...maybe? He's proven to be pretty legit and the team's only real blowout loss with him at the wheel this year was against the Panthers. However, will he revert back to inconsistent Cousins next year or will his evolution into a sleeper top QB continue? That's my only issue with him.
But, enough of my rambling. Go enjoy the games.
